Brooke McKenzie, a young police officer, is out on a routine patrol when she and her partner uncover a band of weapons dealers. The subsequent murder of her partner sets her firmly on the path to investigating whoever is behind the weapons deals, and in the process she crosses paths with Jonathon Chase, a mysterious and magnetic professor. Brooke begins to suspect that there is much more to Chase than meets the eye, and set out to investigate him as well.

Jonathon becomes mixed up in a murder investigation at a magic show, when a man who has been helping the police combat a smuggling operation is apparently killed by a tiger during an act. Called in to investigate on the tiger's behalf, and prevent it being destroyed for a crime that it might not have committed, he combats a man hiding behind his diplomatic immunity.

When a ship arrives in New York, one of the passengers turns out to have been killed, apparently by a spider. Convinced that the spider was merely the agent of human murderers, Jonathon investigates, and finds a young heiress caught up in her father's shady past. Hampered by the CIA and double agents, Jonathon struggles to keep her alive.

A young woman is recovered from the wilderness, where she has been raised since childhood by wolves. Drawn to help her when she is exploited by the humans who 'rescued' her, Jonathon sets out to discover who she is, and why somebody is trying to kill her. This episode was later used again, in almost exactly the same format, for 1994's Thunder In Paradise. Chris Lemmon did the bath scene better than Melody Anderson, but the technical stuff sounds much better coming from Simon Mac than from Hulk Hogan!

During a day at the track, Jonathon and Ty meet a young woman who is convinced that a horse who ran in one of the races is her own animal, stolen some months before. Won over by her argument, they investigate a ranch run by people who have anything but their horses' best interests at heart.

Jonathon and a young friend discover a carved walrus tusk on the beach, and an old sailor recognises it for what it is - a cryptic map to buried treasure. Others want the secret for themselves, however, and Jonathon has a fight on his hands to get to the treasure first - but there are other dangers besides human ones waiting on the tiny island marked on the map.

Old friends of Jonathon's who run a restaurant in China Town are being menaced by protection racketeers. Jonathon sets out to help them, but finds himself drawn into a deadly duel with the legendary Dragon, head of the organisation.

On a trip to study a rare wildflower, Jonathon and Ty, accompanied by Brooke, get mixed up in a power struggle in a small midwestern town. A rich businessman plans to bring a casino to the area, and anybody who stands in his way risks permanent removal.
